History

From a conviction held by the Club Soroptimist fondateur – Marrakech, a boarding house unlike any other was born — twenty-one years later, hundreds of life paths have changed course.

Our mission

Ending school dropout for rural girls

The Club Soroptimist fondateur – Marrakech project was built around one clear goal: eliminating school dropout among girls from remote rural areas, far from any secondary school. A concrete answer to the difficulties of accessing education in rural areas — and a first step towards equal opportunities.

The origins

A conviction that became an institution

The project was born within the Club Soroptimist fondateur – Marrakech, around a simple conviction: school dropout among girls from the rural world is not inevitable. In September 2005, the boarding house opened its doors to thirteen boarders.

Carried by its results, the initiative grew and took shape: the association was formally established in 2018 and recognised by the State — authorisation from the Ministry of Solidarity, Social Inclusion and Family No. 1052/16.

The site

Our territorial roots

The State Domains in Marrakech granted us a 6,000 m² plot of land, on a lease renewable every ten years since 2003 — the very foundation of our boarding school project.

They made it possible

The First Donors

This adventure owes so much to its first builders — without them, the boarding school would not exist.

HRH Prince Bandar Ben Sultan Ben Abdelaziz

An exceptional donation of USD 400,000 to launch the construction works.

Mr Nafiz El Jundi

Architect of the project, it was Mr Nafiz El Jundi who drew the plans of the boarding house — the place that today welcomes hundreds of girls from rural areas.

El Baraka Association

Under the chairmanship of Mr Serge Van Gorkum, it covered all finishing works at a cost of 3 million dirhams.

Building a place for the future

April 2003: the beginning — we believed in it

In April 2003, work began. We believed in it. Step by step, a true educational home was built to welcome girls from the rural world in dignified and safe conditions.
